In order to meet its mission of promoting and sustaining a strong Jewish community, both locally and worldwide, and securing better futures for vulnerable children and their families by connecting them to opportunities which nurture their educational, social, economic, and physical well-being, the Straus Foundation concentrates its grantmaking in three primary program areas:

Jewish Community Services: Focused on rescue and relief for unstable Jewish communities throughout the world as well as support for fragile Jewish families and children living in the Baltimore region.

A fourth program area in Art and Culture does not accept unsolicited proposals and makes small, annual unrestricted operating grants to a variety of institutions which help build a vibrant Baltimore.
